Sunday Sunlight Picks: A Collective Message
☀️ This Delphic Maxim seems apt as a closing message as Pride Month comes to an end. “𝘿𝙤 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙘𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙨𝙤𝙣𝙨”, when applied to the modern day, means that you should not condemn your own children. And this doesn’t just mean biological children — this includes anyone you share a parent-child relationship with, whether they be your students, fellow students from a lower batch, mentees at work, younger siblings, or even the youth in general.
👪 If our children stray from our teachings and find their own happiness (in ways that are lawful/moral and harm no one), then our responsibility as parents/parent-figures is to be accepting and loving. As the guidebook for the Delphic Oracle Cards deck says: “…𝙙𝙤 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙘𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙙𝙧𝙚𝙣 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙗𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙙𝙞𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙩, 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙖𝙘𝙘𝙚𝙥𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢 𝙖𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙖𝙧𝙚.”
In a way, with what’s going on in America and even right here in the Philippines, I feel this is also a message to remember how our actions today can affect our children’s future. Selfish, unjust actions have repercussions that essentially “curse” future generations with unnecessary suffering. Rather than curse our children, let us take steps to bless them with a brighter future.
I hope we can all take this powerful message to heart, this week and beyond. 🙏
